Clarification - The 'Unique' requirement here means if you catch two Shiny Geodudes, only one will be counted towards the event. But if you catch one Shiny Geodude and one Ghostly Geodude, both will be counted. It does not matter if you already have them in your box. Also, you can release the pokemon after you catch them as they will still be counted towards the event.
